Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN AGNES WHEELER (nee JOLLIFFE) Surrounded by the love of family and dear friends, Helen Agnes Wheeler passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at the age of 82 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Raymond Wheeler; and her children and grandchildren, Linda Johnson, Thea and Arthur Wheeler; Janis and George Mason, Gordon, Faye and Erin; Karen and Jeff Gresham, Becky and Calley; and Jim and Heather Wheeler, Greg, Vanessa and Dayna; and by her loving canine companion Rags. Mom was predeceased by an infant brother; her parents, Arthur and Jennie Jolliffe; her dear Auntie Frankie and her cherished son Clinton Jolliffe Wheeler. Helen was born on February 18, 1923 to Arthur and Jennie Jolliffe. She grew up in the warmth of a close extended family with cousins, Joyce Jardine and Ted Dacombe who she loved like siblings. She grew up on Toronto Street and attended Daniel MacIntyre Collegiate. After school she worked at Eaton's Catalogue Department and then at the Department of Veterans Affairs. On October 14, 1949 she married Raymond Wheeler. They raised four children while living in Winnipeg, Montreal, Saint John and then back to Winnipeg in 1963 where she and Dad remained living on the banks of Sturgeon Creek. Mom spent many rewarding years working in the Grace Hospital Library. Since her retirement, she continued to take pleasure in her 10 grandchildren, her many friends and relatives and her sorority sisters. Helen was a member of Perceptor Theta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was a true sister, more than just a friend. She truly practiced the rituals of Beta Sigma Phi - Only the Good - Only the True - Only the Beautiful . This was Helen. She also enjoyed a special place at the table with the Dinner Girls . Mom enjoyed literature, music, art, theatre and travel. She always encouraged her children and grandchildren to pursue their education and other interests. She spent many special times with the family at the cottage on Echo Bay. She always shared her love of dogs with her family. Helen's funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 25 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave. with Rev. Ian Mills officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen's memory may be made to a charity of your choice. For Mom, please hug a child, give a dog a pat and show someone you love them.
