ARTHUR RIOUX 1910 - 2005 Very peacefully, with his children by his side, Arthur Rioux passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2005. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Leontine, nee Trudeau. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Simone Driscoll, Solange (Hank) Pastuszak, Philippe (Lyse), Helene Hayes, Maurice (Kelly), Marcel (Marlene) and Raymond (Pauline). He leaves his sisters-in-law Therese and Leopoldine Rioux, Marie-Jeanne and Emma Trudeau; brothers-in-law, Bernard (Helene) and Alphonse (Annette) Trudeau. He also leaves 23 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Pierre and Aldea (Gobeil) Rioux; all his siblings, Cecile (Didace) Audette, Flavie (Arthur) Rodrigue, Bernadette (Albert) Morin, Eugene (Marie-Ange, (Therese), Paul, Achille, Pierre, Therese (Clovis) Vermette, Marie-Louise (Albert) Laramee, Anna and Lucien; his in-laws, Joseph and Alexina (Bouvier) Trudeau, Armand (Antonia), Joseph, Rolande, Gerard, Victor, Julesbertine, Lucien, Marie, Alice; a granddaughter, Nicole Hayes; and son-in-law, Mick Driscoll. He was born and raised in St. Pierre. He learned to work very hard on his father's farm and many enterprises. When he married, he farmed with his wife. He worked courageously on his farm, for his family and community. He did a lot of volunteer work, for his parish, as founding member of the Caisse Populaire, building the rec centre, as school trustee and at the curling rink. He had his share of grief especially with flooding which prompted him to relocate their farm in 1949. Throughout he was a deeply spiritual man. He enjoyed a good life, success on the farm and with their children and travelling. He went camping until he was 83 years old. The funeral service will be on Monday, September 26, 2005. Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Pierre Church and Holy Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the St. Pierre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers you are invited to make donations to the Fondation Centre Medico de Salaberry, Repos Jolys, St. Pierre, MB R0A 1V0.
