Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM HOGG (BILL) DICKSON William Hogg Dickson, beloved husband of Mildred, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at the Morris General Hospital after a brief illness. Bill was born April 8, 1914 on the family farm and lived all his life in the Morris area. When Bill was 16, his father Robert died, leaving Bill, brother Jack (18), and their mother Barbara to run the farm. Bill was still operating a combine at age 85 years. Bill married Mildred Loewen in 1948. They celebrated 57 years together, raising three sons and a daughter on the farm before moving to Morris in 1971. Bill was active in many organizations, from farming-related to Boy Scouts, to school and church. He was a life member of both the Morris Curling Club and the Valley Agricultural Society, a 51-year Eastern Star member, and a 61-year Mason. Bill travelled to three World Fairs; Chicago in 1933, where he saw Sally Rand; with the family by trailer to Expo '67 in Montreal; and Vancouver in 1986. He and Mildred toured Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and crisscrossed Canada and U.S., visiting friends and four generations family. He is survived by his loving wife Mildred; sister Becky (Francis); sons, Bill (Sharon), Allan (Joy), John (Lynn); daughter Betty (Ron); and grandchildren, Brian, Toban, Alana, Kristin, Tyra, Blaine, Travis, Taryn, and Shan. The grandchildren will remember driving lessons in his truck, and miss his root beer floats. Everyone will miss his smile. The funeral service for Bill will be held at the Morris United Church on Wednesday, September 28 at 2:00 p.m. Donations in Bill's memory to the Memorial Fund, Morris United Church, Box 216, Morris, MB R0G 1K0, or the Palliative Care Program of the Morris General Hospital, Box 519, Morris, would be greatly appreciated.
