ANNE ROBERTSON EASTON December 19, 1918 - September 24, 2005 The family of Anne Easton mourns the passing of their Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma. Anne was born Anne Robertson Laing in 1918 to Julia and Alexander Laing of Winnipeg. She was the second youngest of a family of seven and was predeceased by her brother Alex and sisters, Isabel, Amy, Aileen, Margaret and Jessie and also by her daughter-in-law Audrey Easton. Anne met her husband, Bill, in Junior High school and always said it was love at first sight. They married in 1941 and continued to love each other to Bill's death in 1993. Together they raised three children and carried out busy lives. Anne maintained a large household and for seven years, with her mother, cared for her father rendered a quadriplegic by a stroke. Despite the busyness of her life, Anne continued to maintain many interests and talents. She had always been an excellent athlete: a successful competitive speed-skater, she also skied, bowled, curled and could swim for miles. She could do more and better cartwheels than was good for any mother and could arm-wrestle her sons to the table. Anne's artistry had always been obvious in the beauty and warmth of her home, but as she had more leisure time, she painted and played the piano. Her children will cherish the artwork she left and will be saddened by the silence of the piano. The family will remember many happy years spent with Mom and Dad at the cottage at Whytewold. Of Mom's generation of family and friends she is survived by Amy's husband, Howard Miller and by her dear and lifelong friend, Leigh Dunsmore. Anne is also survived by her children, Bill Easton, Rob Easton (Lorraine) and Sheila Jonasson (Jack); her grandchildren, Jackie Easton, Jeff Easton (Kristin), Jody Loche (David), and Julia Gamble. The great delight of Anne's senior years has been her great-grandchildren, Emma and Anika Easton and Meagan, Corie and Jessie Loche. Anne is also survived by numerous much-loved nieces and nephews and their families. The family cannot give thanks enough to the staff of Tudor House Personal Care Home in Selkirk for the respect, compassion, affection and care which they have provided for Mom over last two months. A memorial service for Anne will be held Wednesday, September 28 at 1:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., entrance at Aubrey Street. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200-6 Donald St., R3L 2S6. NEIL BARDAL INC. (204)949-2200
