CARL (JIM) GUDMUND VOGEN With his family by his side, on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at the Concordia Hospital, after a valiant struggle with cancer, Jim passed away peacefully at the age of 81. He was predeceased by his Mother and Father, sister Jean, brother Barney and granddaughter Lindsay. We would like to thank Mom for her around the clock care she gave to Dad at home, right up to his final hours. Jim was born and raised in Selkirk, MB when he married Betty and then moved to East St. Paul. This is where he raised his family and resided until the time of his passing. Jim was a Commercial fisherman on Lake Winnipeg and employed by Building Products, Welclad Industries and McMillan Bloedel. Jim participated in many activities including playing cards, curling, carpentry, gardening and repairing items (A true Mr. Fix-It). He was a proud member of the East St. Paul Volunteer Firefighters for many years and an avid Blue Bomber fan. He enjoyed many weekends with his family at the cottage in Beaver Creek. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Betty and children: Blair (Linda), Carol Schoen (Art), Sandra Tell (Steve), Marilyn Furutani (Rob) and Tracy Vogen and brother Jack Kelly (Gail). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tanis, Ajay, Billy, Larry, Mandy, Christy, Steven, Matthew, Caitlin, Michelle, Trevor, and Sarah and great-grandchildren, Alex, Erica, Dezi and Jacks. The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Brandes and Dr. Vijay and the staff at CancerCare Manitoba as well as the staff of the Observation Ward and 3rd Floor of the Concordia Hospital, especially Francis. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Jim's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Wpg, MB, R3E 0V9. A private service for family and friends is being held on Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Highway. Remember the love we once shared, Miss me, but let me go.
