DONNA FAYE JAMIESON, RN (nee MCDONALD) Peacefully on September 25, 2005 with her family at her side, Donna passed away at Riverview Health Centre following a courageous battle with cancer. Donna will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 42 years, Harvey; three children, Wendy (Rob), Darren and Lori; grandchildren, Kurtis, Michael and Evan. Her brother Doug, niece Shannon, nephew Kent. Many other nieces, nephews and family, as well as many special friends. She was predeceased by her father Bill, mother Vera and sister-in-law Pat. Donna was born in Moosomin, SK on April 19, 1941. She grew up there and met the love of her life, Harvey. From an early age Donna cared about people and this is in large part why she decided on a career in nursing. She enrolled in the Grey Nun nursing program in Regina, graduating in 1962. Donna began her long health care career in labour and delivery at St. Boniface Hospital and retired from Golden Links Lodge in 2001 after 26 years. During her career, Donna touched many people's lives, both patients and coworkers. Her passion was providing care to geriatric patients. In 1999, Donna was recognized for her contributions to geriatric nursing when she was awarded with a Nursing Distinction Award by The Manitoba Gerontological Nursing Association. Even with her busy career, Donna found the time to raise three children. She was blessed with three grandchildren, Kurtis, Michael and Evan who she held dear to her heart. Donna had many and varied interests, not the least of which was travelling. In 2003 she and Harvey embarked on their trip of a lifetime. A five month motor home adventure that provided them with many wonderful memories. She particularly loved her summers at Blindfold Lake where she took great pleasure watching the loons frolick and the eagles soar. The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude to Dr. Schroeder and his nurse Kim, Dr. Eisenstat, Dr. Vijay and the rest of the staff at CancerCare Manitoba, as well as the doctors, nurses and staff of Ward E3 Riverview Health Centre. The love and compassion that you have shown to Donna in her difficult time, is immeasurable. You truly are special people. Memorial service will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. on Thursday, September 29 at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Donna's memory to CancerCare Manitoba. One of Donna's last wishes was that we not mourn her death, but rather celebrate her life.
