Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBRIAN W. MARKHAM It is with great sadness that we, the family of Brian W. Markham, announce the passing of our dearest and beloved father, peacefully, and after a long and courageous battle, on Monday, September 26, 2005, at the age of 81 years. Brian was predeceased by his wife Verna (1998). With his passing, Brian leaves to mourn, his two sons, Bruce (Robin) of Winnipeg, and Scott of Bilbao, Spain. Although there were no brothers and sisters in Brian's life, he also leaves to mourn, numerous friends and comrades at the Prince Edward Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, where he was a long standing member. Brian was born March 7, 1924, in Vancouver and resided there during his childhood and teen years. Before his call to duty came, he volunteered for service in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942, serving the remainder of the war on the west coast flying bomber reconnaissance missions until his discharge at the end of the war. During the war, Dad had a brief stay in Winnipeg for training, and met Mom. They married in 1944 and had 53 years together until Mom's passing in 1998. Once Mom and Dad settled in Winnipeg, after the war, Brian worked as a refrigeration mechanic, starting at Ashdowns, Canada Safeway, Coldstream, and retired from St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 65. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff and volunteers at Kildonan Personal Care Centre for providing Brian with a home (away from home) the past few years. Many thanks to Tammy, Shane, Sherry, and many others far too numerous to mention. Our sincerest appreciation. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Service to be held at Thomson Funeral Home, 10:00 am., Friday, September 30. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 783-7211
