Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALICE HAMMERSLEY (nee HANDZUK) Peacefully with family at her side, Alice Hammersley passed away on September 26, 2005 at Deer Lodge Centre. Alice was born on February 8, 1926 at Pleasant Home, MB. She was predeceased by her husband George; parents, Fred and Annie Handzuk; brothers, John and Valin; and sisters, Mary Beardwood and Alma Pankiw. She is survived by nieces, Marilyn MacFarland, Maxine (Tom) Walchuk, Patricia (Stan) Clapa, Marlene (Ken) Rebizant, Lorraine Renneberg, Sharon (Rob) Davis; and nephews, Ken Pankiw, Brian (Brenda) Pankiw, and Gordon (Diane) Beardwood and families. Alice retired from the Hudson Bay Company where she worked for many years as a sales clerk. Alice enjoyed travelling to visit family and friends. Her favourite pastimes included shopping, watching television, listening to music and playing cards and dice. Alice was always a caring aunt to her nieces and nephews. She would always listen to the details of our busy lives and try to help out whenever she could. We will miss her dearly. We would like to thank the staff at Deer Lodge Centre for their care and compassion towards our aunt these past four years. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 1 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with interment and a reception to follow. Pallbearers will be Ken Pankiw, Brian Pankiw, Gordon Beardwood, Tom Walchuk, Ken Rebizant and Stan Clapa. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Society of Manitoba, Room N108-2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3.
