ALF (ABRAM) BLUM Alf (Abram) Blum died valiantly on Monday, September 19, 2005 with his family and closest friends by his side. He was predeceased by his parents, brother and sister. Missing him terribly are his wife Kathy, whom he adored from the day they met more than 51 years ago, his son Sidney; daughter Jacquee and granddaughter Alixandra. Born in Romania in 1927, he survived the war, the ghetto and eventually joined the Israeli Navy. He emigrated to Winnipeg in 1953. Like his father he became an upholsterer and worked side by side with his wife. Special thanks to Dr. N. Hechtenthal; nurses, Fraser and Elmer of GH6; HCA's, Caroline, Mark, Doug; faithful friends, Teddy and Marie Muller, Edith Kimelman, Adeline Wlasichuk and George Heidinger. Graveside services were held Wednesday, September 21 at Bnay Abraham Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Teddy Muller, Joe Riesen, Izzy Friedman, George Heidinger, Allan Kimelman and Ike Bernstein. Honorary pallbearers were Bela Griesz and Eugene Joseph. Donations, if desired, can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Please specify Lung Cancer.
