Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBOB (ROBERT FREDERICK) HALE Born August 5th, 1914 Died September 28th, 2005 Bob was a man who lived life on his own terms and died while fully living at the age of 91. He believed in setting one goal at a time and finding the will and a way to making it happen. His body ran out long before his sharp mind and feisty spirit. He was affectionately known as Bob The Bear to all who loved him... and he was well loved. Born in Oak Bay, Victoria, into a family of Island pioneers (both the Pikes and the Lidgates), he moved to England with his parents as a child, but his heart and spirit remained on the Island. While in England he attended school at Kings College and served both his countries for six years as an officer in the British Navy, where he was known as the Duke of Saskatchewan, both for his tenacity and love of the gentleman's sports..... a love he has passed on to all his progeny. He returned to his beloved Island in 1946, with his bride and the love of his life, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Married just short of 60 years, we know this was a goal he wanted to reach. Amongst his achievements, and there were many, he created a Hale dynasty, that is now 16 strong and growing. This was the accomplishment he was most proud of and nothing made him happier than to be surrounded by his family. His was not a one book life; it was a life of many stories. He is survived by his loving wife, M. (Pat) Hale; his children, Liz, Rob (Elizabeth), Bruce (Ruth), Judith (Terry), Carol (Glenn); and his grandchildren, Elisa, Todd, Suna, Aaron, Jeff, Steven, Lucas, Lindsay; and his great-grandchildren, Braeden and Mackenzie. The bite is on Bob and the legend of the blue rod lives on service for family only
