Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN (JACK) MONTAGUE CRAYSTON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly beloved brother, uncle, nephew and friend, Jack Crayston, on September 21, 2005. He passed on surrounded by his circle of friends at Windsong, a place he loved. He fought his cancer with great style and grace, always concerned for those around him. Jack was born in Winnipeg, MB on October 6, 1944, the youngest of three children of Jack and Pearl Crayston. His early education was at Norberry School and Glenlawn Collegiate. He went on to graduate from the University of Winnipeg with an Honours Psychology degree. He taught high school in Niverville for three years and pursued a degree in Education. Jack followed this with a Master's Degree in Psychology. For the next year, Jack travelled in Europe. During this time, he attended the University of Lyon, in France, studying French. Upon returning, he taught at Lambton College in Sarnia, ON for three years. He then moved on to Montreal, teaching at Champlain College for 29 years. During this time, Jack entered into private practice with The Five Associates using Play Therapy , along with regular counselling practices. He continued learning and instructing yoga, eventually becoming a Yoga Master. Jack was a founding member and associate in Windsong, a spiritual healing centre, for 21 years. Jack loved his teaching, his friends, his family, music, ice skating, gardening, his dogs, and his time at his cottage in the Laurentians. He was truly an exceptional individual with a song in his heart and a smile on his face. His sisters and brother-in-law Bryan were privileged to spend most of the summer with him. His sisters, Gail Jones (E.W. Barry), Merrilee Crandell (Bryan); nephews, Kevin Jones (Dolores), Todd Jones, Steed and Trent Crandell; great-nephew Ryan Jones; great-niece Rebecca Fentum-Jones; Uncle George Crayston; many cousins and friends, will remember Jack with love in their hearts forever. There will be a memorial service in Montreal, October 15, 2005. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Jack's name to the Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.

I was a student of Jack's in Niverville and will always remember his kindness and encouragement to me during a very trying and hurtful time in my life. We remained friends and corresponded for many years after I left school. He was a great teacher and friend and I am sorry to have lost touch. I just learned of his passing and wish I had been more faithful in keeping in touch. Rest well my friend and know you are missed. - Posted by: Martha Neufeld (Family) on: Jun 21, 2008

I will always remember Jack for his smile, his kindness and his ability to encourage his students to be the best they could be. I was one of his students in Niverville many years ago. - Posted by: Linda Kwiatkowski (Acquaintance) on: Oct 04, 2005
