Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySANDRA DICKSON-MILLER (GIBSON) Ken and Bernice Gibson trust the above photo will recall memories of close friendships and happy times with Sandra. Regretfully and sadly we announce that Sandra passed away on September 22, 2005 at Brotman Hospital, Culver City, California. Hospitalized for nearly four weeks in Brotman Hospital, her care was nothing but loving and excellent. A Dr. Michael Kamiel, the attending specialist (a Canadian) provided immeasurable attention, keeping me posted at all times and hours. It would be remiss of me not to tell readers that Dr. Kamiel on two occasions reminded me that the time of Fred's and my arrival at the hospital, and finding that Sandra was cognizant, was no less than 'divine intervention' . We truly believe that. Born in Winnipeg on February 21, 1955 her early schooling was at Windsor School in St. Vital, Thornhill, Ontario (1962-71) and on return to Winnipeg, Glenlawn Collegiate where she graduated from and then enrolled at Red River College. Sandra was a certified graduate in graphic arts. Her studies at Red River quickly revealed a natural talent, particularly for portraits, which were a virtual mirror image of the object person. In 1977 Sandra moved to Edmonton and operated her own business, Gibson Graphics. Sandra's favourite work, in which she took much pride, was of then Premier Peter Lougheed, which hangs in Government House. In 1980 she married Barry Dickson which later dissolved and Sandra moved to California in 1985 enjoying the location and weather. We recall great times with Sandra and brother Kevin, skiing with Dad at Banff and Vermont, Easter holidays in North Carolina and Florida and summers with Granddad and Grandma at Brereton Lake, together with her cousins and aunts and uncles. Sandra participated in Young People's groups at Calvary Temple, where she had many close friends and also at the church in Edmonton. Sandra was predeceased by her mother Rita, in 1964 and her husband Hermann Miller in 2000. She is survived by her parents Ken and Bernice and a brother Kevin (Brenda) and two nieces Coral and Breanne, her Uncle Don (Vivian), Aunt Bev. Thurner (Fred) and cousins Bruce (Kelly), Ken (Pat), Kim, Brenda (John), Sue-Ann (Bruce), Brian and their families and also special second cousins Marlene Kelly and Verland. A memorial service will be held October 4 at 1:00 p.m. in the Buntain Chapel at Calvary Temple. Cremation has taken place. Please no flowers, donations may be made in Sandra's memory to Calvary Temple Red Rock Youth Camp or a charity of your choice.
