Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOREEN GRETA MARIE EMMS (CHARTRAND) (1936 - 2005) Passed away peacefully with her lifelong soul mate, Lloyd, by her side on September 29, 2005 at the age of 69. Doreen was predeceased by her parents, Bruce and Exilda Chartrand, and 11 brothers and sisters. She leaves to mourn her six children, Patrick (Patricia), David (Jutta), Claude, Rosanne (Mike), Michael (Angela) and Anthony; her sisters, Lucy Larence, Laurette Hendrickson and Annette Hendrickson; and many nieces and nephews. She was also blessed with 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly. Mom was born February 11, 1936 in St. Ambroise, MB. After marrying and raising her children, she attended The University of Brandon and graduated with a Bachelor degree in Education. She taught Grade 1 students at St. Francis Xavier and later worked in the Native Education Branch for a number of years. Mom had a spirit of adventure. She did some modelling and acting, but her genuine interest in people showed when she was in sales. Whether she was selling jewelry or real estate, she treated her customers with honesty and respect. Even in retirement, she still got great satisfaction from teaching her students English as a Second Language at 17 Wing CFB Base. Mom loved music and instilled it in her family. Not only did she go out dancing with Lloyd and their friends, Romeo and Denise, but also she went line dancing with her sisters and square dancing with her boys. She gave the gift of music to her grandchildren by taking fiddle lessons with them and sharing her piano playing with her great-grandchildren. She loved having her family and friends around her and she made everyone feel special. The Emms family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Third Floor at the Grace Hospital for their patience, great care and kindness they showed to our mom. Prayers to be held at 3390 Portage Ave. in Winnipeg on Monday, October 3 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral services to be held at St. Ambroise Church, St. Ambroise, MB, Tuesday, October 4 at 11:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Stuart Emms, Tommy Emms, Chris Sirdar, Shawn Eckle, Craig Lange and Lance Hendrickson. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Salvation Army. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.

My deepest sincere sympathy goes to my dearest friend Doreen's family, especially her grandchildren whom she deeply loved and talked most loving about. I will cherish all the wonderful years that I enjoyed laughing and especially dancing with Doreen. She sure did like her dancing. May you all cherish her wonderful memories she has left you. As you go through this difficult time, keep in your heart, Doreen's great love for her family, and friends, as well as her constant desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others...The world is certainly a much better place for having had her in it...Her vibrant energy and infectious smile will be missed...
