Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARLENE GARCES UMALI May 25, 1943 - September 30, 2005 It is with profound sorrow and deep sadness that we must announce the passing of our mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend, after a courageous battle with cancer. Marlene Garces Umali passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 62 years. Marlene was predeceased by her brother Ray in 2003 and her father Pascual. Left to mourn and cherish her memory is her mother, Regina M. Garces, her five children Florence (Reggie), Norman, Caroline, Arnold (Lynne) and Marijay (Brad), brothers Edgar (Evelyn), Nelson (Nene), Danny (Nadya), sister-in-law Malou, grandchildren, Christine, Justin, CJ, Lauren, Shaina, Mai-lee, and Eric,as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Marlene was born in Tayug, Pangasinan, Philippines and immigrated to Winnipeg with her children in November 1976. Marlene was a kind and loving mother and grandmother who loved to play the piano and enjoyed traveling. She was known for her generosity and sacrificed much for her children and grandchildren. Marlene supported her family by working for Canadian Linen, Jostens Canada, and Revenue Canada. Her family would like to thank Dr. Lotocki and his gyne / oncology group, the home palliative care nurses and the staff at 3B and the CancerCare unit at the St. Boniface Hospital for their excellent care. Lamay will be held from 6:30 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 6 at the Glen Lawn Funeral Home 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. with prayers being held at 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday October 7, 2005 at the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 778 Archibald St. With interment and reception to follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
