OMAR ABRAHAM Peacefully, on September 30, 2005, surrounded by his family, our loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at St. Boniface Hospital. Omar was predeceased by his parents, Abraham and Smaya Omar; his sister Hadie Mansour, and two brothers in infancy. Omar is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Agnes (nee Granger), his children and grandchildren, Donna (Ed) Wowchuk, Stacey and Lindsay; Randy (Debbie), Matthew; Murray (Linda), Adam and Daniel; Joanne (Blair) Dunsmore, special nephew Bruce Kiesman, and numerous nieces and nephews. Omar was born July 12, 1926 in Kherbout Rougha, Lebanon and immigrated to Canada in 1937 with his parents. His family spent time living in Hodgson, MB eventually settling in Oak Bluff. In 1949, Omar married Agnes Granger. They made their home in Fort Whyte where they raised their family until moving to Fort Garry in 1969. Omar worked for Canada Cement for 40 years where he made many lifelong friends. He retired in 1981, devoting much of his time to his family. Omar was a people person, a practical joker, always the life of the party. He enjoyed many years organizing and bowling with the Fort Garry Bowling League. He also bowled with Fort Rouge Carpet Bowling and played darts with the Rockwood Army, Navy and Airforce. In his younger years, he loved to play baseball and enjoyed many years curling. He always enjoyed getting together with the retirees from Canada Cement, enjoying coffee and Breakfast Club and talking about the good old days . Omar was a member of the Fort Garry Legion #90 and the Rockwood Army, Navy and Airforce. Omar was a man who lived by his faith. His family was his life, his wife the apple of his eye. Our dad and grandpa was always there when we needed him, ready to do anything for his children and grandchildren. There was nothing our dad loved more than spending a night playing Chase the Ace . We love you and will miss you, always. Omar's family would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital MICU for the great care, kindness and compassion shown to our dad and grandpa. Viewing will take place on Tuesday, October 4 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park , with interment to follow.
