PETER BARYLSKI The family of Peter Barylski are sad to announce his passing on October 1, 2005. Peter passed away peacefully at the Arborg Hospital after a short but very courageous battle with leukemia. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Nettie Barylski, and his sister-in-law Deanna Barylski. Peter leaves behind to mourn his passing his brothers, Joseph (Louise) and Harold. Also missing him will be his many nieces and nephews, Norman (Darlene), Laurie, Mark (Teresa), Ronald (Theresa), Jeff (Tracey), Joanne (Rusty) Feakes, and his great-nieces and nephews, Brittany, Andrea, Cohen, Riley, Brenna and Carter. Peter was born on September 21, 1926 in Okno, MB. He spent most of his life on the farm in Okno, going to school in Okno and then farming with his parents and his brothers. Peter's main occupation was farming but he did take on various jobs with construction, clearing land, cutting pulp in the winters, and cooking at a bush camp. Peter, along with his brothers Joe and Harold, worked together as Barylski Brothers. In 1958 they formed a construction company clearing land and making roads in the area. Peter retired from farming in 1988, but never really left the farm. He became head chef, always making sure the boys had a hot meal. There were many Sundays he could have been fishing but if the boys were working on the farm he could be found in the kitchen of the little house. He would give his nephews a hand whenever needed, whether it be in the Meat Shop, bee shop, or running from field to field. Uncle Peter loved hunting, fishing, gardening and especially going for rides. Uncle Peter's trip to Alaska with friends was one of the highlights of his life. He talked endlessly about his trip. He enjoyed packing up the motor home, getting the boat ready and heading north for some good fishing. Uncle Peter's kitchen was always open. He will be missed by his many friends and neighbours who would come by for coffee and some conversation. Anyone who stopped in would have to sit down and eat. There was always room for one more at the table. The family would like to thank Dr. Demsas and the nurses at the Selkirk and District General Hospital and Dr. Doherty and Dr. Beukes and the nurses at the Arborg Hospital. A celebration of Uncle Peter's life will take place on Wednesday, October 5 at 12:00 noon at the Arborg Hall with Tom Read officiating. In lieu of flowers donations in Peter's memory can be made to CancerCare or the Arborg Community Cemetery. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
