Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN MARY BERNIER (nee COSTIN) September 21, 1926 - October 1, 2005 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Jean Bernier, whose death occurred on October 1, 2005, after a lengthy and very brave battle with COPD. Mom was born on September 21, 1926 in Winnipeg, MB. She was employed by various organizations including Patricia Transportation, in Hudson, ON (a subsidiary of James Richardson and Sons), the Ontario Provincial Police in Sioux Lookout, ON and the Manitoba Government until retirement at the age of 68. In her youth she enjoyed horses and the sport of curling. Jean dedicated her life to raising her three sons and took great pride in her seven grandchildren. Left to mourn are her three sons, Keith (Marielle), Mark (Karen) and David (Natasha); her grandchildren, Katelyn, Kristin, Austin, Alec, Tristan, Charlie and Maxwell; her two sisters, Anne (Walter) and Patsy; her brother Don; sister-in-law Nellie; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Mathew (1978) and Pauline (2003); and her brother George (1996). The family would like to express gratitude to the staff of Riverview Health Centre for providing compassionate care to our mom. Prayers will be said 7:30 p.m., Thursday, October 6 at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. No. 1 E. at Navin Road. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 7 also at Green Acres Funeral Home. The service will terminate in the chapel with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6. HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST God looked around His garden, And found an empty space. He then looked down upon the earth, And saw your tired face. He put His arms around you, And lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew that you were in pain, He knew that you might never, Get well upon this earth again. He knew the road was getting rough, And the hills were too hard to climb, So He closed your weary eyelids, And whispered, Peace be thine . It broke our hearts to lose you, But you did not go alone, For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery Hwy. No. 1 E. at Navin, (204) 222-3241
