Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBARBARA SUSAN HUNT Peacefully, at Grace Hospital, in the early hours of October 3, 2005, Mom was reunited with her beloved husband John (Jack) Merritt Hunt, who predeceased her in October, 2001. Born in Plum Coulee, MB on December 25, 1914 to John A. and Mary Wiebe (nee Friesen). Predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Dick, Phil, John, Evelyn, Tony and Alice. Survived by her children, Bob and Gert, Brian and Dale, Jill and Paul Dunn, Bruce and Joanne, Joy and Dave Smith; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Raymond (Alison and Thomas), Barry (Diane, Travis and Tracy), Julie (Larry and Ava), Joel (Tamar), Jennifer (Scott, Sam and Jack), Heather, Stephen, Martin, Matthew (Kim and Chloe) and Andrea. Mom was raised in a typical Mennonite farm family and learned English when she started school at 8 years old. Her dad died when she was 16 and she and her brother Dick had to work to help support the family. She worked as a housekeeper in Halifax and Toronto. She married her sweetheart Jack, on October 1, 1940 and he went overseas right away. Mom worked in the munitions industry in Toronto and upon Dad's return, they started their married life in Winnipeg. Mom was a proud homemaker, a great cook (especially traditional Mennonite dishes) and a loving and caring wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma. After Dad's retirement, they ran a bed and breakfast for many years at 201 Vernon Rd. in St. James. Mom enjoyed her travels to Barbados, Hawaii, Cyprus, Thailand and many other places. She was also a longtime member of the UCW, Streamliners, the Sturgeon Creekers and various seniors swimming groups. She and Dad moved to Colorado Estates in 1997, and enjoyed their time together there and made many new friends. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 5 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with interment and reception to follow. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Sunday School Mission would be appreciated. PEACE, PERFECT PEACE.
