Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET ANGELA CHAMBERS Margaret Chambers passed away shortly after three o'clock on Saturday afternoon, October 1, 2005, among family and friends at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. She was fifty-six years old. Margaret was born in Selkirk, MB on February 12, 1949 to Archie and Blanche Chambers of the Matlock District. Her parents were of Scot descent. She enjoyed childhood activities including her love of her dog, Skippy, with whom she spent hours playing 'Fetch', and baseball games where she loved to run the bases (for herself and everyone else). As a young child she had no fear of animals; particularly she was able to walk up to and under horses unafraid. She grew up amongst five brothers and one sister. By the time she was fifteen years old she was unable to live at home any longer, and was placed in the Manitoba Developmental Centre in Portage in 1964. She lived there until she moved to the Pelican Lake Centre at Ninette, MB in 1974. As part of the Welcome Home Project, plans were made in the year 2000 to find a new home in the community for Margaret. She was warmly welcomed to Grandview where she soon became an integral part of Grandview Residential Services and the company of friends and caregivers at the Friendly Corner Bakeshop and Activity Centre. Margaret was a shy person who preferred one-on-one encounters. She was an avid walker, often out in front of others. When she knew of a planned activity or outing she was always ready ahead of time to participate. She was always more comfortable when she knew what was to happen next. She liked routine. Margaret enjoyed the Wish Book; even from the time she was a child, she enjoyed thumbing through to see what was available. Margaret, though non-verbal, communicated through facial expressions and hand gestures. At the bakeshop she was a hard worker, helping to prepare the soup of the day by cutting up the celery, making bread crumbs for salads and stuffing, and washing restaurant tables. Her parents, two nephews, Henry Wright, Dale Chambers, and a niece Rhonda, predeceased Margaret. Surviving her are five brothers, David (and Flo), niece Patsy Chambers, nephews, Bradley Chambers and Dean Wright; Albert (and Francis), niece Sherry-Lynn Larose and nephew Derrick Chambers; Archie (and Gertrude), niece Karen Chambers; Ron (and Beverly), niece Kimberly Chambers, nephews, Ronnie Chambers, Randy Chambers and Dwayne Chambers; Bob (and Linda) Chambers, nieces, Jacqueline Chambers, Melissa Chambers and nephew Nathan Bearclaw; and one sister Kathy (and Ron Durrisseau), nephew James Daniel Chambers and nieces, Brenda (and Jay) Johnson and Janelle McRae. Margaret is also survived by many friends and caregivers of the Grandview community. Funeral service for Margaret will be held at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, MB at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2005. Pallbearers will be nephews, Danny Chambers, Dwayne Chambers, Dean Wright, Nathan Bearclaw, Ronnie Chambers and Derrick Chambers. Interment will follow at Robinson Spur Cemetery near Matlock, MB. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
