Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID KESLER It is with deep sadness, but with wonderful memories we announce the passing of our husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and brother on Saturday, October 1, 2005 at the age of 84 in his home with his family at his side. Dave will be greatly missed by Mary, his loving wife of 56 years; his children, Carol, Mervin, Sharon (Myles), Murray (Gay), Ferlin (Ruth), Rod (Kathy), Gale (Alex), Sally (Leon); grandchildren, Tanya, Don, Corrina, Allison, Courtenay, Britt, Nathaneal, Jordan, Randall, Kaitlin, Jared, Heather, Paula, Chris, Eden, Danielle, Tamara, Michala, Zach; great-grandchildren, Teggan, Alex, Steven. Predeceased by his parents, Herman and Katharina, infant brother and brother Herman, sister Tina and grandson Travis. Dave was born in Hague, SK on January 8, 1921 where he was raised on the family farm until 1947 at which time the family moved to Manitoba. Dad worked as a farm hand in his early years. In 1943 he enlisted in the army. He was a veteran of the Second World War serving in Europe, staying after as a peace keeper in Germany. Dad bravely fought in Belgium, France, Italy, Holland and Germany. He returned home with an honourable discharge in 1946. Coming back from the war, Dad met the love of his life, Mary Loewen, and made her his sweetheart for 56 years. They settled with their family in Selkirk, MB. Dad worked for the City of Winnipeg for many years, then at the Union Stock Yards until he retired. Dad was a man of great pride when it came to strength, integrity and honour; his word was his bond. He grew in a deep faith in Christ from his early years until his passing, when he went to be with the Lord. He was a man with a great sense of humour who loved to tease and kid around. Home would come alive on weekends when family and friends would gather. There was always much fun and laughter; he had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and looked forward to their visits. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations may be made in his memory to Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen in care of 618 Moody Ave., Selkirk, MB R1A 2H2. Funeral service will be held at Springs Church, 595 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg, MB on Thursday, October 6 at 12:00 p.m. with viewing one hour prior. Dave's son-in-law Pastor Leon Fontaine will be officiating the service. Pallbearers: Dave's sons-in-law. Honorary Pallbearers: Dave's grandchildren.
