MURIEL BROTHERIDGE (nee REID) It is with great sadness the family of Muriel Brotheridge (nee Reid) announces her passing. Muriel passed away peacefully on September 30, 2005. She was predeceased by her husband Hugh in 1976; her parents, John and Elizabeth; sister Janet; brothers, Robert, Walter and Fred. Muriel will be lovingly remembered by daughters, Bev (John) Grigg, Lori (Bill) Nizinkevich; son Neil (Debbie); beloved grandchildren, Tyler and Micha, Jana and Jackie, Jim, Michelle, Teri (Jeremiah), Jessica (Shane); great-grandchildren, Hunter and Holden; as well as very special sisters-in-law, Marjorie Brotheridge and Audrey Raines. Mum was born on April 3, 1921 in Winnipeg, MB, attending Victory and Centennial Schools in West Kildonan. She was very proud of her Scottish heritage. Before her marriage, she was employed at Paulin-Chambers where she made many lifelong friends. She married Hugh in 1950 and family became the focus of her life. Dad and Mum made several moves between Winnipeg and Regina, always providing a warm and loving home for their family. While living in Regina, Mum began her employment with The Bay, transferring to Winnipeg in 1975 where she again made many dear friends. Throughout her life Mum enjoyed hobbies such as ceramics, needlework and word puzzles, but her greatest joy came from her family and friends. She was a devoted mother and lovingly cherished each one of her grandchildren. Mum's love, warmth and extraordinary sense of humour enriched our lives. Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8 at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
