Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERNER STEFFENSEN Peacefully on October 5, 2005, Verner Steffensen passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer. Remaining to cherish Vern's memory are his wife of 50 years, Ulla; children, John Steffensen (Shelley) and Jo-Anne Stevens (Don); grandchildren, Todd, Dana and Jaime; sister Karen Nielsen; as well as many dear friends. Vern was born and raised in Denmark. He served in the Danish Royal Navy. He met his wife Ulla, married and immigrated to Canada in 1954. With strong work ethic in hand, Vern found a job making deliveries for Coca Cola. In 1956 he started to work for London Life as an insurance salesman. His love of working with the general public led him to civil service. He worked for CPP until he retired in 1985. Vern enjoyed many years of retirement at the cottage with family and friends. His love of life was surpassed by none. The family would like to thank the WRHA Palliative Care Program for their kind support. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 8 at 9:30 a.m. in the Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway. I will always remember Onkel Verner for his smile and his laughter. He made the world a little brighter for all the people around him. I know he is not my real uncle but he will always be "Onkel Verner" to me. I am very sorry for your loss of a wonderful man, husband, dad and grandpa.
