Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELSIE MARY CAMERON (SOTHAM) 1906 - 2005 Elsie Mary Cameron (Sotham) passed away at the Swan River Valley Personal Care Home in Swan River, MB on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 in her 100th year. Elsie was born on the farm at Myrtle, MB on March 17, 1906, daughter of Cynthia and Walter Sotham. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Chester in 1989, brother Bert in 1958 and brother Russell in 1994. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Don) of Swan River, Alene (Lloyd) of Gatineau, QC; and one son John (Cheryl) of Winnipeg. Also surviving are five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews. Elsie took her schooling in Roland, MB, attended Success Business College in Winnipeg and worked for the Armstrong Cork. Company for approximately 14 years. She and Chet married in 1938, moved to Roland in 1941 and lived there for over 40 years, where they raised their family. Elsie took an active part in Roland UCW, United Church Choir, Esforad Rebecca Lodge and enjoyed family and friends and community life. In 1982 Chet and Elsie moved to Winnipeg due to his declining health. In 1991 Elsie moved to the Lions Manor, Winnipeg where she enjoyed life there until her stroke in December of 2002. She moved to Swan River Valley Personal Care Home in July of 2002, where she resided until the time of her passing. Many thanks to the staff of the Personal Care Home for their kindness and compassion in helping make Mom so comfortable and content in her last years. Funeral services will be held from the Roland United Church in Roland on Tuesday, October 11 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Harry Ritchie officiating. Following the service Elsie's cremated remains will be interred in the family plot at the Fairview Cemetery, Roland. Thanks to the Swan Valley Funeral Services Ltd. of Swan River and Doyle's Funeral Home of Carman, MB for their professional and compassionate services. If friends so desire, memorial donations in Elsie's memory may be made to the Roland United Church Memorial Fund, Roland, MB or to the Swan River Valley Health Auxiliary Memorial Fund, Box 1975, Swan River, MB R0L 1Z0. Arrangements are entrusted to Swan Valley Funeral Services Ltd. of Swan River, MB and to Doyle's Funeral Home of Carman, MB.
