I. DOREEN BRUETON (nee COOPER) It is with great sadness that our family announces the sudden passing, after a brief illness, of Iris Doreen (Cooper) Brueton, wife of the late Frederick Havelock Brueton, at the St. Boniface General Hospital, on Monday, October 3, 2005. Doreen was a loving and much loved mother, Nannie, sister, aunt and friend to many. Doreen was born in Saint John, NB, daughter of the late Stuart and Martha (Hunter) Cooper. She graduated from Saint John High School Class of 1944 and recently attended the 200th Anniversary Reunion. She was class leader throughout her school years as well as having had perfect attendance. She graduated as Class Leader of the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing class of 1948. Her nursing career took place in Montreal, Saint John and Windsor. She moved to Windsor with her husband's transfer with the Ford Motor Company. They later moved to Toronto and then to Huntsville, ON., where she lived for thirty-two years. While in Huntsville, Doreen was treasurer of the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for sixteen years; a faithful and devoted member of Trinity United Church and was an active participant in Fred's business, acting as the accountant which she continued until 1992, when she retired. Doreen was honoured by Rotary International with the Paul Harris Fellowship Award for service above self. Doreen moved to Winnipeg in 1997, to be near her grandchildren, Kelsey and Luke. She was a member of Sturgeon Creek United Church and the Deer Lodge Seniors Centre, where she enjoyed her bridge afternoons. She is survived by her two daughters, Jane Elizabeth Brueton (Thomas J. Wisnowski) and Diane Doreen Brueton (Craig J. Campbell); two cherished grandchildren, Kelsey Jane Brueton-Campbell (age 14) and Luke Frederick Brueton-Campbell (age 11), all of Winnipeg, MB; one sister Gladys Moore (Darrell); one brother S. Clinton Cooper (Evelyn Gregg), all of Saint John, NB; nieces and nephews, John D. Moore (Sylvia Comuzzi), Fredericton, Paul and Anne Moore and their children, Jessica, Ashley and Johnathan Moore, Rothesay, Sandra Cooper, Ronald Cooper (Sherry) all of Saint John; Karen Smith (Michael) of Scotch Ridge, NB; and several cousins. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 12 at 3:30 p.m. in Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive. A private family interment will take place on Saturday, October 15 in Saint John, NB. Our family would like to express thanks to all of the staff of the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit, B4 and E5, for their patience, loving care and kindness shown to our Mom/Nannie. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Foundation, St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit, Winnipeg Humane Society, World Wildlife Fund or to a charity of one's choice. I had the pleasure of working for Fred and Doreen in Huntsville at their dealership, "Fred Brueton Ford Sales". Fred treated me like a son and trusted me to represent him. Doreen was a bright spot around the garage and trusted me with delivering Diane when the occasion called for it. I loved working for Fred and Doreen, and have tried several times over the years to make contact with Doreen but couldn't find her. My condolences to Diane and Jane. I will not forget her. - Posted by: Bruce E. Markle (Friend) on: Feb 07, 2013
