SONYA RUTH MCVICAR It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Mom and Nannie, on October 6, 2005 at HSC following a brief illness. She will be sorely missed by her children Linda (Vic, Shannon, Marina, Jillian) Enns, Lori (Andrei, Jamar, Tyler) Smith, Barb (Ken, Ashleigh) Shearer, Kim (Bill, Meghan, Lindsay) Crowe and Jay (Linda, Hana, Adan) McVicar as well as by her sisters Sylvia (twin), Jackie and numerous friends and family. Special thanks to her lifelong friends Bunny and Don Whettel and to Aunty Jackie who enabled her to be at home as long as possible. We can't thank you enough. Mom was born on April 19, 1933 in Prince Albert, SK and lived in Winnipeg all her life. She married Bill at the tender age of 17 and went on to have 5 children. They had a strong loving marriage that endured despite Dad's many health crises. He predeceased her in April 1998. Once we were older, she then began a 21 year career at the Miscericordia Hospital Admitting Department, retiring in 1996. She developed many friendships there during this time. Mom was crafter extraordinaire. She made over 500 Raggedy Anne and Andys not to mention countless afghans, dishcloths, towels, knitted dolls, crocheted tablecloths, pillows. Thankfully each of us have several pieces of her handiwork to treasure. Nannie had a special bond with all 10 of her grandchildren and always was interested in their activities. Hana and Adan are especially going to miss their sleepovers with her, they so enjoyed this. She'll also be missed by all her grandogs. Special thanks to Dr. J Johnston who helped guide Mom and us through this terrible time. His calm words and honesty allowed Mom to come to terms with her illness and allowed her the opportunity to make all the decisions regarding her treatment right to the end. Also, special thanks to all the staff at HSC GA4 for their excellent care, kindness and compassion. Flowers are gratefully declined. If so desired, donations may be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation 675 McDermot Ave., Room 1160 Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 (for Dr Johnston's CLL tissue bank research). Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date. Please come join us to celebrate her life at: The Wildewood Club, 761 North Drive on Saturday, October 15 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. MOM Give Dad a big hug and kiss for us LOVE YOU VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME, 220 Hespeler Ave., 668-3151 in care of arrangements.
