ROBERT STEWART ELGERT (1956 - 2005) The family sadly announces that on Thursday, October 6, 2005 peacefully at his residence in Portage la Prairie, Robert (Bob) Elgert passed away. Bob was born in the Portage General Hospital on June 21, 1956, the eldest son of David and Doris Elgert. He grew up in the Macdonald area and farmed for several years with his father. In 1995 Bob quit farming and was employed with McCain Foods. He met Terri in 1996 and they married in 2000. Bob's favourite activities included sea-dooing, snowmobiling and motorcycling. He took great pride in his Ski-Doo and Harley Davidson. He thoroughly enjoyed his rides with Terri and his buddies and friends, especially his annual motorcycle trip to Sturgis. Bob was an avid collector of snowmobile and motorcycle magazines, parts and trinkets, evidence of which can be found in the garages, bedrooms, kitchen and anywhere there was room for another box of his prized collectables . He was predeceased by his father David in 1995 and father-in-law Bob Vryenhoek in 2003. Bob will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Terri; stepsons, Tyler, Ryan (Alayna) and Richard Hornung; stepgranddaughter Rayna; mother Doris; brother Brian (Judy) with nephews, David and Dale and niece Vicky; sister Karen (Graham) Fuchs with nephews, David (Tracy) and Colin (Chantelle) and great-nieces, Ashley and Kaia; grandmother-in-law Edna Vryenhoek, brother-in-law Darren (Carrie) Vryenhoek and sisters-in-law, Lori (Wes) McLeod and Sharon (Kevin) McLean and their children as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Bob will also be missed by all his coffee buddies and his many friends. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 13 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity United Church, 15 Tupper St. S, followed by a luncheon reception. Rev. Julie Baker will be leading the service. Interment will follow in the family plot at Hillside Cemetery.
