EILEEN SOLINGER It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of dearly loved wife, mum, nanny and great-nan, Eileen Solinger, surrounded in love by her family and staff at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre on Sunday, October 9, 2005. She will be lovingly missed by her husband of 63 years, Roy; son Roy Jr. (Colleen); grandchildren, Amber and Adam; daughter Marilyne (Ron); grandchildren, Ted (Jackie) and Susan (Jason); great-grandchildren, Leo, John, Dakota and Jesse; grandchild Troy in Toronto; and many loved family members across Canada and in Hastings, England. Mum was predeceased by her beloved son John; her mother Hetty and father Arthur; sister Emme; brother Ron; nieces, Janet and Denisse. Mum was born in Hastings, England on August 7, 1923 and moved to Canada with Dad and their family in 1954, where her and Dad moved across Canada with the armed forces and then settling in Winnipeg. Mum enjoyed catering to people and was happiest when she had someone to look after. Mum loved to travel and visit with friends and family abroad. We would like to express our deepest appreciation to everyone who cared for Mum through her illness. Dr. Nepon and staff, Concordia Hospital and staff and especially Dr. Tomy in the emergency ward, for his compassionate caring way. To all the staff at Kildonan Personal Care Centre for making Mum's stay so warm and homelike as possible. For the caring for her until the end with so much compassion and determination to keep her comfortable as possible and with dignity, you are angels! In keeping with Mum's wishes there will be no formal service. A time of visitation will be offered at the Glen Eden Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 12 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family will then have a private graveside service. In her memory, if desired, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. We know Mum is at peace. May God watch over her, as she will live forever in our hearts with our memories. We truly have been blessed, our loss is Heaven's gain. We love you Mum. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main Street 338-7111

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • To my dear family in Winnipeg, I am so sorry that my 'nan' has passed away. I am shocked here and would do anything to be back there to be with you all. Words can not express my feelings. I just wanted to say I feel privileged to know such a warm and caring lady and she will never be forgotten. Please know that you are all in my thoughts, especially Roy Sr. and Jr. I love you all. - Posted by: Heather Smith (Family) on: Oct 12, 2005
