ROBERT LLOYD (FRENCHY) MCDONALD Robert Lloyd (Frenchy) McDonald, passed away peacefully in his 94th year on Thursday, October 6, 2005 at Glenwarren Lodge, Victoria, BC. Beloved husband of Janey, Frenchy died as gracefully as he lived. He was predeceased by his brother Bill, his sister Mary and her husband Clarence Zealand and son-in-law Bob Ferguson. His keen mind and generosity of spirit are remembered by Janey, his high school sweetheart whom he married in 1939, daughters, Lynn Pipes (Mike), Myrna Ferguson, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephew and sister-in-law Edith, wife of Bill McDonald. Born in Dauphin, MB on November 29, 1911, he moved to Souris, MB in 1925 where he completed high school. In 1936 he began his work in municipal administration with the Municipality of Glenwood continuing in 1940 with the Municipality of St. Clements and subsequently the Town of Selkirk, MB. In 1954 he joined the provincial government and served as Chairman of the Municipal, Public Utilities and Motor Carrier Boards, after which he became the Deputy Minister of Municipal Affairs, a post he held until he retired in 1974. After spending many retirement years in Manitoba following the sun with the seasons, he and Janey moved to Victoria in 1996. Memorial service to be held at UVic Interfaith Chapel, Victoria on Saturday, October 15. Donations may be made to the Cancer Society or the CNIB in lieu of flowers.
