LENA DUKE Our beloved precious mother, stepmom, grandma, Lena Duke was born May 27, 1914 to parents, Kathryn Rutko Lefteruk and Alex Lefteruk in the family home at Gonor, MB. She passed away on October 10, 2005 at the Selkirk General Hospital. She spent her growing up years along the Red River with her six brothers and five sisters. On February 22, 1930 she married Mike Duke. They farmed at Gonor, Ostenfeld and Vivian. Together they raised three children, Edward Duke, Jerry Duke (Doreen) of Anola, MB and Marjorie Goll (Clarence) of Billings, MT. Dad passed away November 16, 1965. In 1975 she reacquainted with an old friend Borden McRae and they resided at 402 Queen in Selkirk. This resulted in three stepchildren, Dianne Fiwchuk (Bill), Beverly Mudray and Wayne McRae (Judy). Lena moved to Woodlands in 2003 and in 2004 she moved to Tudor House. She leaves behind to cherish the memories she created with us, her children, stepchildren, six grandchildren, nine stepgrandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, 23 stepgreat-grandchildren, four stepgreat-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters and a brother, sisters-in-law, Anne and Mary Lefteruk as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. Lena was predeceased by her husband Mike, husband Borden, five brothers, three sisters, her parents, a daughter-in-law Margaret Duke, sister and brother-in-law, Rosie and Joe Chyz and a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Olga Duke. The family would like to especially acknowledge and comfort Lena's very special friends and neighbours, Eileen and Blair Cooke, Allison Bidnosti (Stewart), Ryan and Nicolus. Also a special thanks to the staff and residents of Tudor House for their loving care and friendship. Friends may pay their respects on Thursday (tonight) from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. from Russell Funeral Home, Beausejour, MB. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 14 at 2:00 p.m. from Russell Funeral Home, Beausejour, MB. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery, Beausejour.   • lena was the sweetest person she would always be so happy when ever you gave her something espeacially her scotch but i will always love the enthusiastic way she said ohhh thank you it was so cute and you knew it was coming from her heart.
