Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPIETRO CAPUTO With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Pietro Caputo, our beloved husband, father and grandfather on Tuesday, October 11, 2005. He was predeceased by his parents and his siblings. Pietro is lovingly remembered by his wife Giulia Caputo (Altomare); his daughters, Angela (Archie) Tordiffe, Teresa (Kenneth) Friesen; grandsons, Kevin, Anthony, Jesse, Julio and numerous nieces and nephews. Pietro was born March 25, 1915 in Paterno, Italy. He spent his first 35 years in Italy as a farm labourer. His remaining years were spent in Transcona, working at the CN, until his retirement in 1980. He was well known for his skill and love of gardening, his long walks and bike rides and will be remembered by the many friends he met along the way. Pietro was fondly known as Nono, not only to his grandchildren, but also to his many acquaintances. He had the gift of gab and was always happy to share an anecdote or give advice on gardening. He had the best manicured garden in Transcona and it was constantly attracting strangers and friends alike. His greatest joy was teasing his wife Giulia and family members during their weekly Sunday dinners together. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and health care workers at Concordia Hospital for their support and kindness. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 14 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing held one hour prior at the Blessed Sacrament Parish, 710 Roanoke St., with Fr. Owen Steeves presiding. Interment to follow at Transcona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, memorial donations may be made to the Blessed Sacrament Building Fund. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
