GAIL PATRICIA FURDYK (nee CZAPLA) With great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gail Furdyk on October 10, 2005 at the age of 61 years; wife, mother and grandmother. Gail was courageous and strong as she battled with cancer for over three years. Many people held a special place in her heart and she will be dearly missed by her husband, four children and seven grandchildren; loving husband Joe Furdyk, son Joe Jr. Furdyk (Marie and Ryley), daughter Lisa Furdyk (Nicholas and Jeremy), daughter Tricia Yuill (Dan, Darby and Grayson), son Todd Furdyk (Sandy, Matthew and Sadie), nephew Michael Sargent (Jenn, Breannan, Jordan), mother Lena Czapla, sisters Sandra Sargent and Beverly Nilsen, brothers Ron and Jerry Czapla, sisters-in-law Leona Waterman and Cindy Hoogervorst, brother-in-law Ron Furdyk, many nieces and nephews, and her many good friends. Gail was born in Winnipeg, MB on August 5, 1944, where she spent her childhood years and received her education. She married Joe on August 10, 1963 and moved to Selkirk shortly after where they spent 42 wonderful years together. She was employed at the Selkirk and District General Hospital for over 25 years and attended University part time to achieve her higher education. She enjoyed volunteering at numerous places some of which include the Manitoba Theatre Company, quilting at St. Benedicts, national sporting events and cancer care. Gail was an avid gardener and was a member of the Selkirk and District Horticulture Society. She was very active and enjoyed long walks, curling, golfing and travelling. Gail had a great spirit for life that will live on in all the people that knew and loved her. She dearly loved her family and was always supportive of us. She taught us to look for the best in people, she was the centre of our family, and she was an unforgettable lady whose strong spirit, soft heart and matter-of-fact sense of humour touched us all, she will be greatly missed. She never held back from anything that she wanted to do and she lived her life to its fullest. Memorial prayers will be said on Thursday (tonight) at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. A celebration of her life will take place on Friday, October 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church, Little Britain, MB, with Msgr. Louis McCloskey officiating. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in her name to CancerCare Manitoba. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
