WAYNE BERNIE RICHARDSON 1946 - 2005 Suddenly, at the Veterans Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota, on Saturday, October 8, 2005, Wayne, of Gimli, MB, passed away at the age of 59 years. Left to mourn his passing are his sister Malvina Richardson of Gimli; his aunt Delores (Neil) of Winnipeg; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by his father Elmer, mother Agnes, sister Gail, aunts Mary and Blanche (Leo), Theresa (Ken), uncle Tony (Jessie). Wayne joined the United States Marines, March 1968 and received an honourable discharge in March 1970 with the rank of Corporal. He served two tours in Vietnam in that time. He received the National Defence Service Medal; Good Conduct Medal; RVN Cross of Gallantry (unit award); RVN Service Medal W/2; RVN Campaign Medal Combat Action Award (Vietnam); Rifle Marksman Badge; Good Conduct Medal, period commences 05 March-1971 (two awards). After his discharge from the Marines he did various jobs, such as a security officer, chef, and he and his mother owned and operated a restaurant in Gimli. Graveside service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. at the St. Vital Roman Catholic Parish Cemetery, Crescent Drive, Winnipeg. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nursing staff of the Veterans Hospital and to the homecare workers in Gimli for all the care and support they gave Wayne.
