BETTY HOUSTON MCEWAN (nee LEARMONTH) Betty Houston McEwan (nee Learmonth), wife of Wally, of White Rock, BC passed away peacefully at Peace Arch Hospital on October 11, 2005, aged 77. Predeceased by her son David; sister Jean; and Bassett companions Lulu, Ivy and Gomer. Betty will be sadly missed by her husband of 53 years Wally; Bassett Rolly; daughters Meg (Ron) and Jennifer (John); twin sister Alison Clincke (Lucian and family); sister Rosemary; brother Don; brothers-in-law Dale and Neil McEwan (and families); best friend Lorraine Newey; and many friends and family in Canada, Scotland, United States and Australia. Born June 10, 1928 in Gogama, ON, daughter of Hudson Bay Factor David Learmonth, Betty moved with her family to Hudson, ON, and was later schooled in Winnipeg, MB. Spending summers working for her father in Norway House, she met Wally whom she married August 12, 1952 in Winnipeg. Betty and her family resided throughout Manitoba until she and Wally retired to White Rock in 1987. Betty was proud of her Scottish and Hudson Bay Co. heritage. Betty's joys were her gardens and her Bassett Hounds. No service at her request. Interment will be held at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre.
