FLORENCE M. STEVENS It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Florence Stevens on October 11, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a long and difficult struggle with cancer. Left to cherish her memory is one brother Harvey (Ardell) Stevens of Thunder Bay ON, four sisters, Violet Fraser of Atikokan ON, Pearl Willard of Kelowna, BC, Lois Whiteside and Eva Demchuk both of Winnipeg, MB, nieces and nephews too numerous to mention and a close friend Nancy Crooks who was there to support and care for Florence with great kindness and compassion through her illness at their home. Florence was a wonderful, kind and generous person and her memory will be treasured by all that knew her. Florence was born on June 29, 1932 in Emo, ON where she grew up and went to school before moving to Winnipeg in 1949. She worked as a dedicated employee at the Bank of Montreal for 42 years before retiring here in Winnipeg. Florence had made many good friends in that time. Florence loved to travel, read and she lived life to the fullest. She had moved to Quispamsis, NB three years ago where she shared a lovely home with her good friend Nancy and beloved dog Jazz. Florence will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends that she leaves to mourn. At Florence's request there will be no funeral service. Cremated remains will be interned at a later date in Emo. Special thanks to Dr. V. Smith and all the staff of the Extra Mural Hospice Care in New Brunswick. Her family invite friends, former coworkers and neighbours to meet with us at the Viscount Gort Hotel at 1670 Portage Ave., on Saturday, October 29 at 2:00 p.m. to share memories of Florence. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society of Manitoba or CancerCare Manitoba.
