SHARON LYNN HOOD Peacefully, Sharon Hood ended her earthly walk on October 11, 2005 at Bethesda Hospital, Steinbach with her family at her side. The war with cancer that began in 1992 had come to an end. Sharon was born in 1954 in Foam Lake, SK to Mike and Alice (nee Karapita) Hood. She was a proficient student. Sharon scored 100% on her Grade 12 Chemistry final and was class valedictorian. In 1984, she achieved the highest mark in Manitoba on a CGA exam. Upon graduating from Sacred Heart Academy in Yorkton, SK she received a B.Sc. degree from the University of Saskatchewan followed by an M.L.S. As such, she pursued a career in systems librarianship. She was employed by the University of Saskatchewan, the Winnipeg Public Library and the University of Central Florida Library. After Sharon's return from Florida, she married Roger Wohlgemuth in 1994 and relocated to Roger's farm near Landmark, MB. Besides being Roger's partner and anchor with farming and trucking operations, she taught microcomputer courses for the Continuing Education division of Red River College and Hanover School Division. She also volunteered for the Multiple Sclerosis Library in Winnipeg. Sharon had many interests including sewing, collecting recipes from near and far, baroque music, gardening and bird watching. She sought quiet and comfort in all her endeavours. Sharon is survived by her loving husband Roger Wohlgemuth, her mother Alice and her sister Dianne. She was predeceased by her father Mike in 2001. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I’m writing this on behalf of members of the Wohlgemuth family. It’s a collection of different thoughts and memories. I will always remember Sharon as someone who seemed more interested in knowing more about the people around her. She was great in talking to children of all ages. She even took the time to expose some kids to cultural events such as the ballet and symphony. Sharon was always very hospitable and I was always amazed at her organizational skills. How did she ever do it? She loved gardening and it was always apparent in her own flower gardens. - Posted by: Wohlgemuth Family (Family) on: Oct 17, 2005

  • My thoughts are with the family. Sharon was a loyal friend from U of S days when we were both pre-Library Science. We shared our experiences in the profession and she was bridesmaid at my wedding. Lots of people will have happy memories of who she was. - Posted by: Miriam van der Est (Friend) on: Oct 13, 2005
