LOUIS STANKIEWICH Peacefully, on Thursday, October 13, 2005 at the Middlechurch Home in West St. Paul, Louis Stankiewich, aged 81 years passed away. Louis was born on July 28, 1924 in Rennie, MB and was raised in Walkleyburg, MB. He attended Brightstar School in Walkleyburg and lived most of his life at his parents home until 1980, when he and his father (John) moved into Winnipeg to live with his brother Ted after his mother (Lucy) passed away. As Louis got older and required more care, he moved into various nursing homes with Middlechurch being his final home. Louis truly enjoyed farm life, being with his animals and he loved nature in general. He was a kind and compassionate person to all who knew him. Louis is survived by his sister Marge Oliver of Selkirk and brother Ted of Winnipeg (special friend Lucille), numerous nieces, nephews and family. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Lucy Stankiewich; brother George and sister-in-law Winnie Stankiewich; sister Joyce and brother-in-law Mike Roman; and brother-in-law Bob Oliver. Prayers will be held on Monday, October 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 18 at 10:30 a.m. also in the chapel with Fr. Jerry Talarski officiating. Interment will follow in the Walkleyburg Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Pruse, Merv Perkins, Ron Dudar, Steve Tomchuk, Ed Smolarski and Les Evinger. Heartfelt thanks are extended to all staff at the Middlechurch Home for their kindness and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Louis' memory to a charity of one's choice.
