JEAN CHRISTENSON Peacefully, with her family by her side Jean passed away on October 13, 2005 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Jean is predeceased by her birth parents James and Emily Smyth of Ireland and her adopted parents Samual and Maude Anderson of Winnipeg; three sisters and one brother. Jean is survived by her loving husband of 57 years Robert Bob ; children, Andrew Christenson (Wendy), Stephen Christenson (Dawn), Brian Christenson (Kathi), Debbie Hossack (Dave Currie), and Sharon Wiens (Henry); grandchildren, Michelle (Joseph), Deanna, Rhonda (Jeff), Scott, Janelle, Todd, Lee, Kathleen, Korey, Sean, Carly, and David; two great-grandchildren, Kieran and Kaylyn. Jean is also survived by one sister Edith. Jean was born into a loving family in Ireland. When her parents died, mom (10 years old) and her younger sister were sent alone across the world to Canada to be adopted by relatives. Jean graduated from General Wolf High School and went to work for Eaton's. While there she met her future husband and best friend Bob, who was a young airman firefighter. For the next 57 years they shared love and friendship between themselves and with everyone they met. The Christenson house was always a lively welcoming place with mom's smile lighting up the room. When younger, mom loved playing baseball, travelling and was an exceptional bowler. Her cookie and cake recipes were included in several cook books. She was a skilled seamstress and knitter. Her sweaters, blankets and quilts are treasures for her family and friends. In later years her increasing health problems slowed her down but never stopped her positive outlook. Even when she was ill she always had a smile and kind word for everyone. Whenever she said goodbye her last words were And remember I Love You. Well, Mom. You remember, we love you. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 18 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with an interment and reception to follow. Thanks to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital 6-A Medicine for their compassionate care during her final hours. Special thanks to Yvette Boily for her kindness to mom during mom's last weeks. As well, thanks to the staff of the St. Boniface Dialysis United and the Emergency Department for all of their support.
