DAVID WILLIAM LAZARKO Suddenly, on Thursday, October 13, 2005, David passed away at the Health Sciences Centre. He will be sadly missed by his wife Christine; children; Edward, David and Laura; mother Natalie Lazarko; brothers, Lawrence (Irene) and their children; Lawrence, Robert, William and Jim (Leah) and their children; Dana and Jason; in-laws Edward and Susan Wazny; brother-in-law Louis Wazny; nieces Candace Benson (Brent) and Angie Byczek (Wayne) and their families as well as numerous family and friends. David was predeceased by his father Bill Lazarko. David was born August 28, 1951 in Portage la Prairie, MB. He attended school in Portage and then the University of Manitoba where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science. David met and fell in love with Christine Wazny and were married on April 30, 1977 in Lac du Bonnet. They have three children, Edward, David and Laura who he loved dearly. After working as a Guard at Headingley Penitentiary, David then joined the Canadian Pacific Railway Police Force where he rose from Constable to Sergeant during his years of service. He really enjoyed this job and often would tell us of some of the more exciting experiences he had. David treasured the good friendships with fellow officers through the years and enjoyed the company of his best friends, Bernie and Doris Fillion. In his spare time, David enjoyed painting, gardening, fishing, hunting, photography and dabbling in the stock market. He was a very talented and creative man. David embarked on projects such as building an addition to his house and loved to tinker with his cars. We will miss his jokes; his pranks and his unique sense of humor. Prayers will be held on Thursday, October 20 at 7:00 p.m. in Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, 847 St. Mary's Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 21 at 10:00 a.m., also in the church, with Rev. Fr. Phil Daley presiding. Interment will follow in St. Vital Cemetery, 236 River Road. Pallbearers will be; Claude Beaudry, Dave Creasy, Bill Carlson, Harry Minter, Klem Gelowitz and Terry Hubick. Also, Honorary Pallbearers are; Bernie Fillion, Vince Ritchie and Dan Connolly. Our family wishes to thank all the medical staff who cared for David at the Victoria General Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Suite 200, Winnipeg, MB. R3L OK6.
