Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCAROLYN DIANNE VEITCH-RAKOWSKI October 2nd, 1979 - October 14th, 2005 It is with great sadness that the family of Carolyn Veitch-Rakowski announce her peaceful passing, after a courageous battle against leukemia. Carolyn leaves to mourn, her beloved husband Chris, her parents, Dianne and Ken Veitch; her brother Tim (Darcy); grandmothers Roberta Martin, Shann Boivin (Mark) and grandfather Ted Veitch (Barb). Chris's parents, Nicole and Fred Rakowski; brothers Janek (Lindsay) and Tristan; nephews Wesley and Ivan; niece Allison; grandparents, Lydia Rakowski and Leo-Paul and Antoinette Laurin. Her much loved aunts and uncles, Evelyn Veitch, Maureen DeBoer (Adrian), Jim Martin (Janet), Gerry Martin (Kelly), Gord Martin (Rosey) and Marilyn Van Aert (Joe) as well as her 12 cousins all of whom she loved. Carolyn was predeceased by her grandfather, Ralph Martin, great-grandparents, Jim and Eva Stuart, Florence Martin, Jack and Evelyn Veitch and Roonie McKay. Carolyn was a very sweet and gentle child to everyone around her, but possessed a very fierce sense of independence and determination to do things her own way. She called things as they were, you always knew where you stood with her. She had a very outgoing personality, and always made friends wherever life lead her. Carolyn enjoyed various team sports throughout her youth, baseball in spring, bowling, skating in winter, volleyball in Junior High and Dragon Boating in her adult years. Most of all, Carolyn enjoyed the times spent with her family, at Nana's farm, around the pool, day trips out to the Big Whiteshell and Jessica Lake, and time spent in Toronto and Grand Beach with aunty Ev. In later years, she enjoyed time with the Rakowski family at the cottage in St. Laurent. She was often known to say I have the best family! Great times were also spent with her many friends, most memorable were her trips to Mexico, the Grand Canyon and deep sea fishing with Chris, Mark and Julie. Carolyn graduated from the Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive High School in 1997. She worked a year for Ken and Theresa Beerman at the Water Shop, before attending and graduating from Success Compu College with an Executive Secretarial Certificate. She then was employed by Gold Business Machines and later by the Prolific Group until her illness. Carolyn possessed a very strong work ethic, was always very friendly and efficient, giving 100%. The family would like to extend their thanks to all our extended family, friends, neighbors and colleagues for their continuous love and support, especially Heather, Debbie, Missy, Rachelle, Sara, Mark and Julie, LaLa and Charlie and Lindsay. We would also like to extend our thanks to Dr. Seftel, his colleagues, Giselle and Meagan at CancerCare, the BMT team and most especially the staff of GD-6 for their loving care and concern, making Carolyn's time spent their comfortable and enjoyable. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 22, at 2:00 p.m. in the Christ Church Anglican, 227 McLean Ave., Selkirk MB with Rev. Brad Elliott officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations can be made in Carolyn's memory to GD-6, Health Sciences Center; CancerCare MB., or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.

When my children were young, Carolyn was like an angel on earth to them. Carolyn babysat my boys, Nicholas and Caelin Reid when we lived in Selkirk. My boys adored her gentle manor and I always felt so good about leaving them in her very confident hands. I will always remember her cheerful smile. She truly left an imprint in our hearts. We share in her family's sorrow right now and wish them our deepest condolences. - Posted by: Kelly Bjornson (Friend) on: Oct 18, 2005
