ADA MARJORIE BALDERSTONE Peacefully, on October 16, 2005 at the Middlechurch Home, Marjorie passed away after a lengthy illness. Margie was born in Middlechurch, the daughter of Joseph and Phame (nee Cree) Balderstone, early residents of St. Paul (now West St. Paul). She attended West St. Paul School. Her education was continued at St. Johns College and the Provincial Norman School. She taught in Vivian, Anola, Whytewold, Mountain Side and Emerson. While teaching she completed a degree in Pedagogy at the U. of M. She took leave from teaching to work as customs officer on the trains from Emerson to Winnipeg. Marge returned to teaching until her retirement. Margie loved travelling, bird watching and working in her beautiful garden. Many friends have been recipients of her lovely crewel work. Margie was a faithful member and a lay reader in St. Luke's Anglican Church in Emerson. She was called upon to conduct many services when the clergy were away. Over the years she maintained friendships with many of the clergy and their families and is Godmother to a number of their children. She also volunteered at the Emerson Care Home, accompanying the sing-alongs on her guitar. In 2002, Margie entered Middlechurch Home. The family are thankful to the nurses and staff on B2 for their care and compassion. Marjorie was predeceased by sisters Eleanor, Georgina and Phame and brothers John (Chic) and Joseph (Bud). She is survived by sisters Dorothy Langton and Grace and over 75 nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and the Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 21 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 299 Balderstone Road, Middlechurch with Rev. Robin Mather officiating. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Reception to follow in the lower hall. If friends so wish, donations may be made in Margie's memory to St. Paul's Anglican Church, 299 Balderstone Road, West St. Paul, MB R4A 4A5 or Middlechurch Home, 280 Balderstone Road, West St. Paul, MB R4A 4A6. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I remember Miss Balderstone as my Grade 9 school teacher at Ridgeville, MB. She was there for only part of the year of 1949/50. She was one of my most favorite school teachers. I am now retired and live in Westbank, BC. I have often wondered where she was. I am now 71 years old and remember her vividly. I think I had a crush on her as her student. - Posted by: Len Kassian (Acquaintance) on: Oct 19, 2005
