Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUISE WIENS (nee FRANZ) It is with deep sadness that the family announces the sudden death of Luise Wiens on October 15, 2005 at Donwood Personal Care Home at the age of 76. She was predeceased by son Victor Wiens in June 2005; her parents and siblings. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Heinrich (Henry); children, Ann Wiens, Henry and Barb Wiens (Karen, Dan and Tyler Dees, Jonathan and Mark), Luise and Gordon Kroeker (Ruth and Heather), John and Dorothy Wiens (Jeffery and Ian), Gerhard and Cindy Wiens (Makara), Angie Wiens (Susan and David) and Arthur and Lynda Wiens (Tyler). Luise was born in the Ukraine on June 2, 1929. During the Second World War, she was separated from her family and lived with her Aunt and Uncle who took her in until she got married. She met Heinrich on a ship to Paraguay. They were married in 1948. In 1958 they immigrated to Canada with five children and settled in Winnipeg where two more children were born. Luise loved her family and was always concerned about their welfare. She was a real prayer warrior, praying for the salvation of her children and grandchildren. She had a real gift of hospitality and loved to entertain. At Christmas she would bake cookies, prepare plates and then distribute them to her neighbours as a sign of her love for them. At Easter she would do the same thing with Paska (Easter Bread). She was loved by all who knew her. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, which had been her greatest fear. In spite of her disease, she continued to care for others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, 1315 Gateway Rd. Donations may be made to Family Life Network, 225 Riverton Ave. or the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
