SONJA WARD On October 17, 2005, while a patient at Swan Valley Health Centre, Sonja (Lysack) Ward of Swan River, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour. She was 89 years of age. She was born to Martin and Dorothea Lysack on August 26, 1916 at Dubiny, Wolyn, Poland. Sonja came to Canada with her parents, three brothers, and three sisters in July of 1929. In 1948 she married Peter Ward of Hyas, SK. They farmed in the Pretty Valley district until 1984 when they retired and moved to Swan River. Sonja was predeceased by her loving husband Peter in July 2002, as well as by her Father, Mother and brother Nickolas. Left to mourn her passing are her daughters, Marlene (Ray) Remple of Winnipeg, Carol (Dr. Lloyd) Martens of Altona, and grandsons, Lawrence and Malcolm Remple of Winnipeg. She is also survived by four brothers, Maxym of Ottawa, Victor (Elvira) of Winnipeg, Michael (Margaret) of Winnipeg, and Dr. Allan (Shirley) of Dauphin; and four sisters, Olga Komenda of Winnipeg, Kate of Swan River, Ann Dumych of Niagara Falls, NY, and Lily (Gary) Johnston of Regina, SK. Funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church, Swan River on Friday, October 21, at 2:00 p.m. conducted by Pastor Preston Hartwig. Interment in Birchwood Cemetery, Swan River. Viewing will be held at Swan Valley Funeral Services on Thursday, October 20 at 7:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Swan Valley Funeral Services.
