V. IRENE ADAMS Peacefully, after a short stay at the Grace Hospital, Irene Adams, aged 98 passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2005. Irene was predeceased by her husband Babe and sons, Dean and Jim. Irene will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Luella Lumley (Jack); sister Grace Haig; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Irene was longtime member and a Past Noble Grand of St. James Rebekah Lodge No. 47, I.O.O.F., and in 1978 she was the first member of that lodge to have earned the Decoration of Chivalry. This decoration is given for volunteer work. As well, Irene was an active member of Sturgeon Creek United Church and took up painting with their Crafty Crafters , producing some beautiful paintings, which she graciously gave to family members. The family thanks the staff at West Park Manor for their many years of loving caring for Irene and also thanks the Grace Hospital nursing staff and Dr. Borrett for the tender care given to Mom. A celebration of Irene's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, at Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Dr. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers a donation in memory of Irene may be made to the St. Amant Centre, 440 River Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2M 3Z9.
