ALEX (OLEKSA) WASYLIW It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our father, Dido and friend on Monday, October 17, 2005 at the age of 81. Alex (Oleksa) will be missed by his sons Dan and wife Gail Bobowski, Roman, daughter Diana and husband Dr. Mark Semchyshyn, three most cherished grandchildren, Danika, Nina and Adam. He is survived by his brother, sisters, numerous nephews and nieces in Ukraine. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Maria in 1999 and infant grandson Andrijko. Oleksa was born March 25, 1924 in Uhryniw, Kalush district, Ivano Frankivsk, Western Ukraine. Life's journey and destiny brought him and his beloved Maria together in marriage in Germany. They arrived in Winnipeg in 1950, after residing in England. A productive life was spent as a custodian in The Winnipeg School Division and School Board, until his retirement in 1989. He was a long time member of Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, who always kept his faith close to his heart. Our father always took pride in having his family over for Sunday lunches, where topics of conversations were always encouraged, be it political, historical or the sharing of humourous jokes. Dido's greatest joy was spending time with his granddaughters who brought him endless smiles and happiness. He will always be remembered for his quick wit, charm and sense of humour. Prayers will be sung at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 20 at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 21, also at the Cathedral with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Buyachok officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. N. Sucharyna and Mr. M. Mandzij and his active pallbearers Mr. Glenn Burke, Mr. Chris Garrick, Dr. Rob Palaschuk and Dr. Greg Palaschuk. In lieu of flowers, donations in our father's memory may be made to Ukrainian Canadian Social Services (Manitoba Branch) or Immaculate Heart of Mary School, 650 Flora Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2W 2S5. The family wishes to thank Dr. Gorski and the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital. Vichnaya Pamyat KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
