DIANE COPPENS (nee PREFONTAINE) Diane Coppens passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, October 16, 2005 in the Red Deer Hospital at the age of 83 years. Diane was born on a farm in Bernard, MB and grew up there with her seven brothers and sisters. She met her husband Ghislain in Fannystelle, where they were married and raised their family until moving to Headingley and eventually settling in Winnipeg. Diane was a proud member of the St. Charles Roman Catholic Church for many years. Her last two years were spent at the Aspen Ridge Lodge, in Didsbury, AB where she received love and caring attention from her daughter Shirley and her family. Diane is survived by her children, Terence (Holly) Coppens and Shirley (James) Metcalfe of Didsbury, AB; daughter-in-law Loreli Coppens of Calgary; grandchildren, Christina (James) Bloomfield, David (Jonka) Coppens, Matthew Coppens, Cheryl (Dwayne) Summach, Marsha Metcalfe, Jason (Charity) Metcalfe, Steve Coppens and Jennifer (Larry) Flug; great-grandchildren Alexandria, Megan, Cassandra, Brendan, Abigail, Elizabeth and Calib; brother Claude and sister Auror. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Laura (nee Alarie) Prefontaine, daughter Doreen in 1967, husband Ghislain in 1988 and son Rene in 1997. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 24 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles St., Winnipeg, MB. Interment to follow in the Assumption Cemetery, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to a charity of choice. As a tribute to Diane Coppens, a tree will be planted in the Heartland Tree Memorial Park, Olds, AB.
