SIGRID CARLSON (nee MARTINSON) Sigrid passed away peacefully on October 13, 2005 at St. Boniface General Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. Sigrid is survived by her brother Sigurd Martinson and many extended family members. She will be lovingly remembered by all including Sharon and Mel Eggum, Clint Eggum, Joan and Don Cooke, Gary Cooke, Marilyn and Walter Restau, Bill Young, Rick and Stephanie Young, Emily Krueger, Dallas Krueger, Rob Nordal, Bob and Mary Martinson, Donna and Bill Reilly, Frank Packman's family, Fred Carlson's family and Philip Pelletier's family, including Susanne Pascal, Michele and Tom Baril, Kris Ryan and Rick Kovac. Sigrid will be cherished by all her friends, many who journeyed with her in faith, especially Susan and Stuart McKelvie, Aaron McKelvie, Heather and Chris Wells, Bob and Wilma Taylor and Barb Drysdale. Sigrid was born in Saskatchewan on December 11, 1916. She made her home in Winnipeg and worked for the Hudson Bay Company for many happy years before retiring. Sigrid was a fine and gracious lady with a sharp memory for sharing the details and stories of family and friends. She also had a great appreciation for words such as a finely turned phrase and a good crossword puzzle. The family would like to thank all the staff at St. Boniface General Hospital who cared for her, especially the staff of 6A Medicine, Dr. Marcelo Garcia (Palliative Care), Dr. Marianne Krahn and Bonnie Johnson (Oncology). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 29 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave., Winnipeg, MB. Flowers are gratefully declined, but we know that Sigrid would be honored by donations in her name to CancerCare Manitoba or to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
