NORMAN JON CLIFFORD VESTDAL 1919 - 2005 On Tuesday, October 4, 2005, Norman quietly joined his wife Adelaide, mother Grace, father Victor and sister Evelyn. Norman served in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps from 1940 to 1945. Norman Vestdal was among the many brave Canadians to land in Normandy (Juno Beach) on the 6th of June, 1944. Our respect and admiration for his sacrifice and that of his generation, shall survive long after their passing. While in England, he married the woman with whom he would share the next 56 years of life. Upon their return to Winnipeg, Norman, Adelaide and daughter Wendy made their home in the Weston area, where he maintained lifelong friends. He worked at George McLean's Wholesale and the Manitoba Telephone System prior to retirement. Sadly, Adelaide was taken from him in 1999. Norman continued on, taking up residence at Betelstadur, where his warmth and generosity allowed him to be among friends once again. Norman's sister Helen Grainger, her daughters, Carol and Mary, along with their families will fondly remember his visits to Windsor, ON. Stories of ice fishing on Manitoba's lakes with his father Victor, his mother Grace playing ice hockey; our Icelandic Canadian heritage and his integrity shall be passed on to his great-granddaughter Georgia Grace and all who follow. Wendy, her children, Jacqueline and David, along with their families will remember him with love, and know that he will find peace with his Addie . To honour his memory, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba (www.cancercare.ca).
