JAMES FREDERICK (FRED) CLYSDALE With great sadness, we announce the passing of our dear father and grandfather on Thursday, October 20, 2005. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Pola, who died on October 24, 2004; sisters, Edna Clysdale and Helen Elmhirst; brothers, Archie, Walter and Ralph. Fred is survived by his loving daughter Joanne Loeb (Gerry) and his two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Catherine of whom he was so proud. He is also survived by his son Jim; sisters, Dorothy Kingdon and Shirley Fyfe and brother Howard. Fred was born on a farm near Peterborough, ON on December 31, 1920. He joined the Bank of Nova Scotia in 1939 and retired in October of 1983. During the Second World War, Fred served in the Air Forces. During this time Fred was posted to Winnipeg and met his wife, Pola. After retiring from the bank, he worked part time until the age of 81. He made many friends in the Bank of Nova Scotia with employees and customers and made many friends at Deloitte and Touche. Fred had a strong work ethic and rose from bank teller to Assistant General Manager for the Prairie Region. During the last year of his life, he joined the Rockwood Legion where he enjoyed playing cards and shuffleboard with his new friends. Dad loved his family deeply and was always generous with his support. He was a man of strength and determination. He will be greatly missed. He remained active and vibrant to the end. There will be a private family entombment at Assumption Mausoleum. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 28 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John Brebeuf Roman Catholic Church, 1707 John Brebeuf Pl. We thank the staff at Victoria Hospital Intensive Care Unit for their kindness to Fred and the family. If friends and family wish, donations may be made in Fred's memory to Pulford Community Living Services Inc. 300 - 283 Bannatyne Ave. Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2B2. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
