IRENE MOREAU (GUSHE)
Date of Passing: Oct 21, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE MOREAU (nee GUSHE) Irene Moreau (nee Gushe) peacefully passed from this world on October 21, 2005. She was pre-deceased by her parents Leonard and Mary, and brother Daniel. She is survived by her six children, numerous grandchildren, many cousins and sisters Evelyn and Marge. Irene was educated at Aberdeen School in North-end Winnipeg, but one would have surmised it was the Sorbonne given her breadth of knowledge, striking wit and prodigious vocabulary. She was a whiz - almost a wizard - with words, her speech a mix of joyful play, shocking erudition, and enough twenty dollar words to add up to a million. There was little time for her to write down her thoughts, however, as Irene was a dedicated and tireless full-time mother to her six children. In the few spare moments she did have, Irene found peace and tranquility by observing and listening to the birds who flocked to her home, and many did, seeming somehow to sense her great affinity for them. She loved nature in all its regards, facets and ferocity and passed that love, appreciation and knowledge on to her children. And when those children, and other loved ones, were ill, Irene was a healer, a natural nurse, and seemed - like the migratory birds - to be able to discern the right direction and sleep with her eyes open. Irene was a great lover of art, books, and music and found beauty and profundity everywhere. Her beauty and profundity will be missed, but her essence will live on. Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, October 23 and the funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 24, both at Gilbart's Funeral Home, 309 Eveline Street, Selkirk, MB. The family wishes to sincerely thank the caring and compassionate staff of Red River Place and the Selkirk Mental Health Centre. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements (1-204-482-3271)
