ELVIRA LA CARRUBBA (nee MICCICHE) April 8, 1921 - October 23, 2005 It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Elvira La Carrubba on Sunday at Concordia Hospital at the age of 84 years. She was predeceased by her husband Salvatore on October 30, 1992 and her brother Diego. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Maria (Orlando) Pepe and Dina (Keith) Travis; grandchildren, Carmela, Elvira (Joe), Adelina, Nikki (Joe) and Denielle; great-grandchildren, Pietro, Dante, and Bianca; brother Carmelo (Franca) in France; sister Carmelina in Sicily and many nieces, nephews all in Italy and France. Elvira was born in Canicatti, Sicily. She immigrated to Canada with her husband and daughters in 1957. She was very devoted to her husband and family, and always put her family first. She loved to cook, crochet, sew and knit. Her faith in God was very strong which helped us all through this difficult time. The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia, 3rd Floor N.W. for all their care and compassion. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, October 26 at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 27 at 10:00 a.m. also at the church with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding. Entombment will follow in Assumption Cemetery (Queen of Heaven Mausoleum). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elvira's memory to CancerCare Manitoba or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
